Teacher: Stacie Dunn
Key Areas of Study
Eighth grade focuses on American History from 1776 to the present. Our textbook, from The Classroom Law Project, is a great book that ties together history and government. With this book, and teacher supplemented materials, students learn our country's history, and understand how that history helped our Founders to create our U.S.
Constitution. We also explore our countries expansion, the era of reform, the Civil War, Reconstruction, and beyond.
Sixth and Seventh grade focus on Ancient Civilizations. We explore not only how those in the past created their civilizations, but the cultural features of those same civilizations today. We focus on understanding culture, and recognizing the importance of tolerance and acceptance. Seventh grade also has an added geography focus.
